Job Description

A fulfilling opportunity awaits for a dedicated Special Education Teacher interested in supporting young learners in a K-2 cross-categorical classroom this fall. This contract position will span through the start of the school year up to Christmas break, offering a chance to make a positive impact during a vital learning period. The assignment takes place in a nurturing elementary environment where collaboration and individualized instruction are valued.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience instructing students in K-2 or elementary settings preferred.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with AAC iPad devices, especially TD Snap, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage diverse learning needs in a cross-categorical classroom.
  • Skilled in adapting curriculum and delivering personalized interventions.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with both staff and families.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to consistency for students.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support and deliver individualized special education instruction for K-2 students.
  • Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Utilize AAC technology to foster communication and engagement.
  • Maintain a welcoming, structured, and inclusive learning space.
  • Collaborate with classroom aides, therapists, and general education staff.
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required.
  • Communicate student progress and needs effectively to families.

Position Details:

  • Hours: 8:30am 3:30pm with mandatory arrival 10 minutes before start and departure 10 minutes after end.
  • Half-day dismissals at 11:30am.
  • Enjoy one duty-free 40-minute lunch and a daily 50-minute prep period.
