Job Description

Make a real difference in elementary students lives by providing specialized instruction and support for children in a resource setting. This full-time contract opportunity runs from now through June and serves students from kindergarten through 5th grade. The position is based near Detroit, MI, and involves working with a designated caseload at a single site to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within their learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Current Michigan Special Education Teacher certification (MI SPED)
  • Experience in a resource setting is highly valued
  • Expertise in supporting students with varying abilities in elementary grades (K-5)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with colleagues and families
  • Ability to adapt lessons and strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and accommodations in a resource room to students in K-5 grade levels
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as needed
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
  • Maintain clear communication with families and school teams about student progress and needs
  • Keep accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
