Job Description
Bring your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting elementary students on their educational journey. This full-time position places you in a vibrant 5th-grade classroom where youll collaborate in a co-teaching environment to deliver personalized instruction in Oak Park. With a manageable group of approximately seven students in the classroom and an additional four on your caseload, youll have the chance to offer meaningful, individualized support in a dynamic setting. This assignment starts as soon as possible and extends through the end of the school year, providing you with the perfect opportunity to make a significant impact.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Special Education or related field
- Valid Special Education teaching license/certification for the state
- Prior experience with elementary-aged students, particularly in inclusive or co-teaching settings, preferred
- Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse caseload and collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Co-teach in a 5th-grade classroom, adapting instruction for students with varied learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Track student progress and adjust strategies as needed
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, aides, and service providers
- Provide direct support to students both in small groups and one-on-one
