An exciting opportunity for a dedicated Special Education Teacher is available at a school in Des Plaines, IL. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through May 29, 2026, offering a stable and rewarding environment for educators passionate about supporting students with special needs.
Location: Des Plaines, IL
Contract Duration: ASAP - May 29, 2026
Hours: Full-time, 35 - 37.5 hours per week
Caseload: Elementary Resource classroom supporting 4th and 5th-grade students
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students in 4th and 5th grade resource classrooms
- Provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students with disabilities to promote academic and social success
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other staff to create a supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to optimize learning outcomes
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal special education regulations
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Special Education teaching license (PEL) is required
- Prior experience working in a school setting with special education students essential
- Strong candidate with a proven track record of effectively supporting elementary students with special needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with staff and families
