Job Posting: Special Education Teacher Structured Learning Services (K2)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained K2 Structured Learning Services (SLS) classroom. This role is focused on helping early elementary students develop the life skills, routines, and behavioral regulation strategies needed to successfully navigate the school day.
Classroom Details
Grade Level: Kindergarten2nd Grade
Setting: Self-contained (Structured Learning Services SLS)
Caseload: Typically 1015 students (currently approximately 8 students)
Student Needs:
Significant autism
Emotional dysregulation
High level of structure and support required
Support Structure
3 paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
1 additional teacher providing support
Access to related service providers and specialists who push in as needed
Highly collaborative, team-based environment
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured, individualized instruction focused on life skills and daily routines
Teach foundational skills that support student independence and school readiness
Implement strategies to support behavior regulation, transitions, and communication
Create a consistent, predictable, and supportive classroom environment
Collaborate with support staff and specialists to meet student needs
Utilize positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience working with students with autism and significant behavioral needs
Strong understanding of structured classroom environments and routine-based instruction
Skilled in building life skills and adaptive functioning in young learners
Comfortable leading and collaborating within a multi-adult classroom setting
Patient, consistent, and proactive in managing behaviors and supporting student growth
