Job Description
Make a significant impact in the lives of children by utilizing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher in an Intensive Resource Room environment. This full-time contract opportunity, located near Denver, CO, centers around guiding and nurturing a small class of six elementary students (Grades 16) with unique and complex needsincluding Down syndrome, non-verbal autism, and use of AAC communication devices. Your skills and compassion will help shape an inclusive, supportive, and enriching school experience for every student.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hold an active Colorado Special Education Teaching License
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Knowledge of AAC devices and alternative communication strategies
- Familiarity with differentiation, IEP development, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Patience, adaptability, and a student-focused mindset
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each students needs within a self-contained classroom setting
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals to support daily routines, learning, and self-care activities
- Partner with service providers, including Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Social Workers, to integrate therapy and services into the school day
- Implement and monitor IEP goals and document student progress consistently
- Foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment to maximize learning and independence
