Job Description
Make a real difference by supporting a homebound first-grade student as both a Special Education and General Education teacher on a flexible, part-time contract basis. This unique assignment provides an opportunity to deliver individualized instruction to a student who is currently homebound due to health concerns and cannot attend school in person. Your expertise will help this student develop foundational academic and social skills in a one-on-one setting.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in BOTH Special Education (any area) and Elementary General Education preferred (will consider candidates certified in one of these areas)
- Previous experience working with students with cognitive impairments and OHD disabilities is highly desirable
- Ability to design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to individual learning needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassion and patience for engaging young learners in non-traditional environments
Responsibilities:
- Provide approximately 10 hours of direct instruction per week (1 hour/day per discipline)
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities following IEP and 504 requirements
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the specific learning needs of the student
- Collaborate with parents/guardians to establish a supportive and productive learning environment
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with school administration
- Flexibility to work after school hours if needed; student will likely attend sessions on site
