Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary setting, working with young learners in kindergarten and first grade. This contract position focuses on supporting a small group of seven students with diverse needs, specifically requiring Autism Spectrum Disorder Certification. You'll be surrounded by a collaborative team, including two dedicated paraprofessionals in the classroom and robust support from both the building and special education staff.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education, with Autism Spectrum Disorder endorsement.
- Experience working in an elementary school environment, especially with students in K-1st grade.
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, other teaching staff, specialists, and families.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Full-time, onsite availability for the duration of the contract.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to each students needs in a small group setting.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to facilitate a supportive, structured classroom environment.
- Develop, monitor, and adapt IEPs in collaboration with the school SPED team and families.
- Assess student progress and modify instructional strategies as necessary.
- Maintain thorough documentation and prepare regular progress reports.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences.
- Foster positive relationships that help students build confidence and independence.
