Make a difference in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a part-time, contract position. Support a select group of 19 students with diverse learning needs, guiding them through meaningful educational experiences each morning. With a predictable 4-hour schedule, you'll have your afternoons free while making a significant impact during school hours.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification and special education endorsement required
- Experience working with high school students in a resource or self-contained setting
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, and staff
- Comfortable developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet students unique learning needs
- Organizational skills for managing documentation and maintaining compliance
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, academic support, and accommodations to 19 high school students with varying disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Regularly assess and track student progress, modifying strategies as needed
- Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment that encourages student growth and confidence
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote student success
- Communicate regularly with families to share updates and answer questions
- Maintain accurate and timely student records in compliance with regulations
