Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a part-time, contract position. Support a select group of 19 students with diverse learning needs, guiding them through meaningful educational experiences each morning. With a predictable 4-hour schedule, you'll have your afternoons free while making a significant impact during school hours.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification and special education endorsement required
  • Experience working with high school students in a resource or self-contained setting
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, and staff
  • Comfortable developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet students unique learning needs
  • Organizational skills for managing documentation and maintaining compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction, academic support, and accommodations to 19 high school students with varying disabilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, modifying strategies as needed
  • Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment that encourages student growth and confidence
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote student success
  • Communicate regularly with families to share updates and answer questions
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records in compliance with regulations
