Step into a rewarding opportunity this fall supporting a vibrant K-2 cross-categorical classroom as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position runs until Christmas break, offering you the chance to make a meaningful impact at an elementary level. Your day will begin at 8:30am and end at 3:30pm, with expectations to arrive 10 minutes prior and remain for 10 minutes after each day. On half-days, students are dismissed at 11:30am, affording additional schedule flexibility. You'll enjoy a duty-free 40-minute lunch and a daily 50-minute prep period to recharge and plan engaging lessons.
What we're looking for:
- Valid state certification in Special Education (teaching credential required)
- Experience with or willingness to support K-2 students with diverse learning needs
- Comfort managing a cross-categorical classroom environment
- Preferred: Familiarity with assistive technology, especially AAC iPad devices (knowledge of TD Snap platform is a plus)
- Flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a passion for inclusive education
- Ability to communicate collaboratively with paraprofessionals, support staff, and families
Role responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction based on student IEPs
- Implement strategies and accommodations to support academic, social, and behavioral growth
- Integrate AAC devices into classroom routines, fostering communication for nonverbal students
- Create a nurturing, structured learning atmosphere
- Collect data, monitor progress, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
