Job Description

Step into a meaningful role as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with diverse learning needs for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is based onsite at a Detroit-area school and offers the opportunity to make a real difference in students educational journeys.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with mild to moderate disabilities. You'll collaborate with fellow educators and support staff within the department to ensure that each student receives the tailored interventions and support necessary for academic and personal growth.

Qualifications:

  • Current Michigan Special Education Certification with appropriate endorsement
  • Background working with students who have mild to moderate special needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
  • Excellent organizational and documentation abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify IEPs based on individual student needs and assessments
  • Deliver engaging instruction and adapt curriculum materials as required
  • Track progress and maintain detailed records for compliance and ongoing planning
  • Engage with families and caregivers to build partnerships that support student success
  • Work cooperatively with general education teachers, counselors, and other staff
