Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract-to-hire opportunity supporting one middle school student in a dynamic educational environment. This position focuses on providing personalized instruction and behavioral support as a Special Education Teacher for a middle schooler with significant behavioral needs. Collaboration is central, as youll work with a dedicated classroom para for added support.

This full-time role (30 hours/week) welcomes travel professionals who are passionate about making a difference and comfortable addressing challenging, sometimes aggressive behaviors. The assignment is in-person, offering the chance to build rapport and make a direct impact.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia Special Education (SPED) teaching license (confirmation of specific credentials required)
  • Experience working one-on-one with students exhibiting severe behavioral challenges
  • Willingness and ability to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors
  • Previous work in a middle school or similar setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and teamwork
  • Open to in-person work; this is not a virtual/remote teaching position

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized academic and behavioral interventions to support the success of your assigned student
  • Collaborate with the paraeducator, school team, and families to develop and implement effective strategies
  • Monitor progress, document observations, and adjust approaches to meet evolving needs
  • Ensure a safe, positive learning environment that prioritizes emotional and physical well-being
  • Participate in IEP meetings and follow district protocols as needed
