Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher working with third-grade students in a supportive elementary school environment. This full-time, long-term substitute assignment spans from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing the chance to make a meaningful impact during the school day.

In this role, you'll engage with a dedicated group of young learners, helping them excel academically and socially within an inclusive classroom. Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
  • Experience in elementary special education strongly preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • A passion for supporting students with special needs
  • Flexibility and adaptability as a long-term substitute

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to third-grade students with special needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
  • Develop and track IEP goals, ensure compliance, and update records as needed
  • Maintain positive and proactive communication with students, parents, and staff
  • Adapt lesson plans and classroom strategies to individual student requirements
