Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for a leave replacement from mid-September through December at an elementary school serving third-grade students. This opportunity requires working Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supporting a third-grade special education classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with special needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement IEPs
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Modify curriculum and instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student development

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher certification
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably third grade
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, including paras or other support staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Location:

  • Portsmouth, Rhode Island (elementary school setting)
