What were looking for:

  • Bachelors degree and a valid Oregon Special Education (SPED) teaching license
  • Experience or passion for working in life skills/SPED settings
  • Ability to remain flexible regarding job site and specific assignment, as locations will be finalized closer to the assignment start date
  • Willingness to collaborate with educational teams, adapt to new environments, and build rapport with students of all abilities
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
  • Open to adapting instruction and supports to meet a wide range of student needs

Role responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and life skills curriculum to students with a variety of developmental and learning differences
  • Work collaboratively with paraeducators, therapists, families, and school personnel
  • Attend IEP meetings and maintain student records as required
  • Adapt lesson plans and teaching approaches to meet individual student goals
  • Model positive behavior supports and nurture a safe, respectful classroom climate
  • Engage actively in professional development and implement best practices in SPED
