A special education teaching opportunity is available for a full-time middle school position located in Columbia, SC, with a contract covering the current school year (CSY). This role involves providing specialized instruction and support to approximately 16 middle school students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to diverse educational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Collaborating with paraeducators and support staff to enhance student learning and behavior management
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly
- Maintaining thorough documentation and communication with families and school personnel
- Participating in meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities as required
Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with middle school-aged students with special needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
