A special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2024-2025 academic year in West Columbia, South Carolina. This contract position spans from August 7, 2024, to May 28, 2025, with weekly hours ranging from 35 to 40. The role supports students across elementary, middle, and high school levels in a public school district, focusing on a variety of special education needs.
Positions include resource support and self-contained classrooms for students with learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and other special education requirements. Specific openings exist in elementary schools (7:00 AM 2:30 PM), middle schools (8:00 AM 3:00 PM), and high schools (8:00 AM 3:30 PM), allowing for placement in environments best suited to your skills and experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid special education license
- Teaching certificate endorsed in Learning Disabilities or Multicategorical Special Education
- Experience working with diverse special education populations across multiple grade levels
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a school team
Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum to meet student needs, and maintaining a supportive, inclusive classroom environment. While direct supervision from paraprofessionals or related service providers is not provided, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is encouraged.
