In this role, youll provide individualized instruction and classroom support for learners with diverse educational needs. The classroom setting is self-contained, so your ability to structure lessons, manage a supportive environment, and tailor resources is essential. Caseloads may vary, allowing you to work with a dynamic range of students throughout the school week.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active LBS1 endorsement required
- Valid teaching certification for Special Education in Illinois
- Experience working in self-contained special education settings strongly preferred
- Skilled at developing and implementing IEPs
- Comfortable teaching both elementary and middle school age groups
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with multidisciplinary teams and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized lesson plans for students with unique learning needs
- Collaborate with support staff and related service providers to implement IEPs
- Create a positive, encouraging classroom environment that promotes student growth
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and progress documentation
- Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse student abilities
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians
