Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners with significant communication and developmental needs. This full-time, onsite opportunity is for the 2026-2027 school year, focusing on a K-3 Intensive Communication Program. The classroom setting is highly individualized, with six students, two dedicated paraprofessionals, and an emphasis on fostering growth for children who require structured routines, visual supports, and robust adult guidance due to disabilities such as autism, developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities. Many of the students utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to access their education.

Your background working with students with moderate to significant disabilities will make a meaningful impact here. The classroom utilizes the Unique Learning System and customized curriculum, emphasizing functional communication, foundational academics, independence, and student engagement.

Candidates best suited for this environment are skilled in:

• Supporting students with complex communication needs, including AAC
• Delivering individualized, highly modified instruction
• Creating and maintaining structured, self-contained learning environments
• Implementing visual supports and structured routines
• Closely collaborating with paraprofessionals and related service providers
• Building individualized routines that foster engagement and independence

Additional requirements:

• Valid Illinois Educator Certification
• Demonstrated experience with students who require intensive supports
