Ignite your passion for teaching by supporting 7th-grade students as a Learning Behavior Specialist in a contract position for the upcoming school year. Located conveniently near Chicago, this full-time onsite role involves working closely with a small caseload of ten hardworking students who have Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in reading and math. These students are fully included with their general education peers for academics, specials, lunch, and recess, making collaboration and co-teaching essential components of this rewarding opportunity.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Illinois professional educator license with LBS1 endorsement required
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher or Learning Behavior Specialist preferred
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation, especially for reading and math goals
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective co-teaching
- Ability to engage, motivate, and support students with diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-teach 7th-grade English Language Arts and Math alongside the general education teacher
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each students IEP
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Foster an inclusive, supportive educational environment for all learners
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent communications, and team planning sessions
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school policies
