Step into a rewarding contract position supporting middle school students in an Intensive Communications Program near Blue Island, IL. This full-time opportunity runs from August 14 through November 1, covering an FMLA leave with the potential for extension. With a focus on students who have Autism and Intellectual Disabilities, you'll help create a nurturing, functional, and life-skill-centered classroom environment for a group of nine learners.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid LBS1 and Professional Educator License (PEL) are required
• Previous experience supporting students with Autism or those in functional/life skills programs is preferred
• Background in utilizing functional and life skills curricula
• Familiarity with the Unique Learning System is a plus
• Strong collaboration skills; youll work alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction based on functional and life skills, incorporating the Unique Learning curriculum and hands-on opportunities such as using a mini-kitchen and laundry equipment
• Guide students through community-based activities and regular field trips to promote real-world learning
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to create a supportive and highly structured classroom
• Individualize instruction to address the specific communication and daily living needs of each student
• Track progress and adjust teaching strategies to optimize outcomes for every learner
• Communicate effectively with families and school staff to support student goals
