Job Description

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field required
  • Valid Special Education teaching certification for the state
  • Previous experience working with K-12 students with diverse educational needs preferred
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Adaptability, patience, and a passion for advocating for student success

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies to engage students of varying abilities
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust lesson plans as necessary
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to promote student inclusion
  • Conduct assessments to inform instruction and guide interventions
  • Provide a nurturing, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Attend relevant meetings, trainings, and professional development to remain current on best practices
