Step into a rewarding role this fall and make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary setting. Youll work with K-2 students in a cross-categorical classroom, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. This contract position is designed to cover a maternity leave, starting at the beginning of the school year and extending through Christmas break. Youll enjoy consistent daytime hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with an expectation to be present a few minutes before and after the student day. Half days conclude with an 11:30am dismissal, offering occasional schedule flexibility.
Your daily routine will include one uninterrupted 40-minute lunch and a full 50-minute prep period, allowing you to recharge and plan engaging activities. The classroom utilizes AAC iPad devicesparticularly TD Snapso familiarity with these technologies is a plus.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a cross-categorical classroom
- Knowledge of assistive technology and communication devices, particularly AAC iPad devices (TD Snap)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive classroom culture
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to K-2 students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families to ensure each childs success
- Create and implement individualized education plans
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Embrace strategies and tools that enhance communication and student engagement
