This rewarding, on-site contract opportunity spans the full academic year, from August through May, and centers on providing dedicated instruction in a self-contained classroom environment. Key Qualifications:
- Valid (or pending) New Mexico Special Education licensure
- Experience or strong interest in working with students with significant behavioral or intensive learning needs
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and challenges
- Clear communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements
- Build supportive, positive relationships with students in a self-contained setting
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, paraeducators, therapists, and families to foster student progress
- Apply effective classroom management techniques for high behavioral needs
- Participate in staff development, team meetings, and ongoing professional learning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all students
