Job Description

A Special Education Teacher position is available in Calumet City, IL, focusing on K-2 self-contained Cross Categorical special education. This contract role is on-site and requires delivering tailored instruction that meets individual education plans for young learners in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a K-2 self-contained classroom.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to support student development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom climate that encourages student engagement and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education certification with an LBS1 endorsement.
  • Experience teaching special education students, preferably in early elementary grades.
  • IEIN number is required for application submission.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position is based on-site in Calumet City, Illinois.
  • Contract hours total 33.75 per week, with an immediate start.
