Job Description

This role involves working directly with a 6th-grade student in a one-on-one capacity, providing crucial educational support during a suspension period. Youll be based onsite at one school, ensuring specialized attention and consistency in your approach.

The assignment runs from ASAP through June, with flexible scheduling availablechoose between a part-time option of 3 hours daily or a full-time schedule of 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Your focus will be on fostering academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being for the assigned student.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education
  • Valid New York State teaching certificate in Special Education
  • Special Education certification appropriate for 6th grade or K-12
  • Familiarity with district and state requirements for Special Education
  • Prior experience in individualized or small-group instruction preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized, standards-based instruction to a 6th-grade student on suspension
  • Collaborate with school staff and administrators to develop and implement student-centered plans
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with IEP goals
  • Apply effective behavioral and academic strategies tailored to individual needs
  • Create a supportive, inclusive environment that motivates and encourages learning
