Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher, you will lead a self-contained classroom and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with severe cognitive impairments.

Your expertise will help foster an inclusive, supportive environment where every learner can develop academically and socially. Collaborate closely with dedicated educational professionals, families, and support staff, utilizing innovative strategies and individualized plans to ensure student success.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching certification
  • Experience with high school-aged students preferred
  • Familiarity or background working with students with severe cognitive impairments
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Commitment to providing differentiated instruction tailored to unique learner needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
  • Assess student growth, track progress, and document outcomes
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning styles
  • Work alongside general education teachers, therapists, and families
  • Develop and execute IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Support students social, emotional, and academic development
