Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Masters preferred)
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for Connecticut
- Experience teaching students with autism or in a similar intensive setting
- Strong understanding of K-5 curriculum and individualized education program (IEP) development
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and with families
Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom for students with intensive autism needs in grades K-5
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Design engaging, differentiated instructional activities tailored to student strengths and challenges
- Collect and analyze data to drive instructional decisions and monitor progress
- Foster a supportive, safe, and structured classroom environment
- Partner with related service providers and support staff
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student goals and progress
- Participate in professional development to enhance skills and stay current with best practices
