Job Description

Make a meaningful difference for a young learner as a contract educator, providing both general and special education instruction to a homebound first-grade student. This unique opportunity focuses on supporting a child with lower cognitive skills and an OHD disability who cannot attend school in person due to Covid-19 safety considerations. The role is ideal for a professional certified in both special education and general education, offering a flexible, part-time schedule of approximately 10 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Minnesota teaching license
  • Certified in Special Education (SPED) in any area
  • Certified in General Elementary Education
  • Previous experience working with students with cognitive impairments or specific learning needs preferred
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable with strong communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct academic instruction in both general subjects and adapted curriculum as needed, in alignment with the student's IEP
  • Design engaging, individualized lesson plans to address the students unique cognitive and developmental needs
  • Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Maintain communication with the students family and school team to ensure continuity and support
  • Deliver instruction on-site at the school, with flexibility for after-school hours to accommodate family needs
