Job Description

Step into an engaging school environment as a Special Education Teacher focused on 7th grade students with diverse learning needs. This onsite contract role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with general education staff and make an immediate difference in the lives of students in a supportive setting.

The position centers around co-teaching for a caseload of ten 7th graders, with five students in English Language Arts and five in Math. Each student has an IEP, primarily targeting reading and/or math goals. All students are fully mainstreamed with their general education peers across academics, specials, lunch, and recess, supporting a truly inclusive classroom culture.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Illinois Special Education (LBS1) License required
  • Eligibility for, or possession of, a Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Prior experience working with middle school students or special education populations preferred
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach alongside general education staff in academic subjects
  • Develop, modify, and deliver instruction tailored to student IEPs
  • Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals
  • Contribute to IEP meetings and provide input for student plans
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment in all settings
