Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting seventh graders as a Learning Behavior Specialist in a vibrant, inclusive educational setting. This onsite contract opportunity offers a fulfilling schedule of 33.75 hours per week, running from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM, beginning in mid-August and continuing through the end of the school year.

Youll work directly with students who mostly have reading and/or math IEP goals, providing targeted interventions within co-taught ELA and Math classes. Your students are fully included with their general education peers during academics, specials, lunch, and recess, fostering a collaborative and social classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher or Learning Behavior Specialist, preferably in a middle school environment
  • Deep understanding of IEP development and implementation, along with effective instructional strategies for diverse learners
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with general education staff, support professionals, and families
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach and provide direct instruction in ELA and Math for seventh grade students on your caseload
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individualized student needs and IEP goals
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor and communicate student progress
  • Work collaboratively with team members, including general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Support meaningful participation of students in all aspects of school day, ensuring access and opportunities alongside peers
