Key Qualifications and Experience
- Valid Mississippi Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Experience working with students with severe disabilities, including both verbal and non-verbal learners
- Flexibility in adapting communication and instructional strategies to suit individual student needs
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently in a self-directed manner
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Role Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to K3rd, 4th6th, or 7th8th grade students as assigned, with a focus on meeting the individual educational goals of students with severe disabilities
- Develop tailored lesson plans, IEP goals, and assessments in cooperation with general education teachers and support staff
- Utilize a range of communication techniques, including augmentative and alternative communication as needed
- Track and report student progress, modifying instructional approaches based on data-driven insights
- Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, nurturing school culture
- Engage in virtual panel interviews as part of the selection process
