Make a real difference each day as a Special Education Teacher supporting students unique needs in a dynamic, self-contained classroom setting. This full-time contract opportunity is located near Bensenville, IL, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:35 AM to 3:30 PM. Be part of an Academic Life Skills program working with a small group of 79 students, including those with Autism, Down Syndrome, and complex medical needs.
In this role, youll be pivotal in guiding students through adapted life-skills instruction, managing IEPs, and implementing both classroom and medical accommodations. Your experience in self-contained special education, particularly with low-incidence and life-skills populations, will be key to helping students thrive in their academic and personal growth journeys.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement
- Previous experience in a self-contained special education setting
- Background working with low-incidence/life-skills populations
- Passion for creating a supportive, inclusive classroom
- Ability to manage IEPs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom focused on life-skills instruction
- Adapt and deliver lessons tailored to each students needs and abilities
- Coordinate and implement IEPs, tracking goals and progress
- Work closely with classroom and support staff to meet medical accommodations
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
- Communicate consistently with families and the school team
