Job Description
Make a meaningful impact working as a Special Education Teacher for a supportive elementary setting serving 4th-grade students with cross-categorical needs. In this contract assignment, youll work closely with an engaged team, collaborating with aides and related service professionals to ensure every learner receives the targeted, individualized instruction and support they deserve.
In this role, youll facilitate grade-level academic content and develop customized teaching strategies that address a range of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs. Your expertise helps each student achieve their IEP goals through structured teaching, thoughtful interventions, visual supports, and a nurturing environment designed for learning and growth.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Special Education endorsement
- Experience working in cross-categorical or similar special education programs
- Strong understanding of IEPs, specially designed instruction, and individual goal setting
- Proficiency in implementing behavioral, social-emotional, and communication interventions
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned to grade-level standards and aligned IEP objectives
- Utilize visual, sensory, behavioral, and social-emotional supports throughout all instructional activities
- Develop and implement data-driven interventions based on student needs
- Effectively manage a classroom with the support of a program aide and additional support staff as necessary
- Engage in regular communication and collaboration with related service providers to optimize student outcomes
