Key qualifications and experience:
- Valid Nebraska Special Education (NE SPED) license required
- Prior experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
- Background in teaching students with severe disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Demonstrated commitment to cultivating inclusive, nurturing classroom environments
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to middle school students with severe disabilities
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Adapt curriculum content and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Foster positive, engaging classroom dynamics that promote independence and growth
- Engage regularly with parents, guardians, and fellow educators to communicate progress and strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with all federal and state special education guidelines
