Job Description

A special education teaching opportunity is available at an elementary school in Baltimore, MD, serving students in grades K2. This contract position is expected to last through the current school year or until a permanent hire is made, offering a meaningful experience working with young learners in a highly inclusive environment.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of approximately 18 students primarily receiving resource services with a mix of pull-out and push-in supports. Many of the students have behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), so experience with BIP implementation is strongly preferred. Some classrooms serve students with low cognitive profiles and smaller caseloads; candidates may indicate their preference during the application process. Collaboration with paraeducators is an essential part of the role, with staffing levels that may fluctuate, requiring flexibility and teamwork.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction across all elementary subjects within a supportive and inclusive classroom setting
  • Implementing and monitoring behavioral intervention plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Coordinating schedules and services with paraprofessionals and other support staff
  • Maintaining detailed records and assessments to track student progress
  • Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs

Ideal candidates will hold or be working toward Maryland Special Education Certification (K5). Prior experience with behavioral plans and inclusive classroom environments is highly valued. This position offers a standard elementary school schedule with 7 paid hours per day plus an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.

This opportunity provides the chance to make a positive impact on young learners with unique needs while working in a supportive, collaborative school setting. Candidates passionate about special education and flexible, adaptable teaching strategies are encouraged to apply promptly to help meet immediate staffing needs.

Submit your application today to contribute your expertise in special education within this dynamic early elementary environment.

Compensation for this position ranges from $19.00 to $57.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
