Job Description
A school district in Aurora, Colorado is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a fulltime, schoolbased contract. This position serves K12 students and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative educational environment with ongoing professional and administrative support. Candidates with a passion for inclusive instruction and IEPdriven teaching are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction and educational support to students with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and Colorado state regulations
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families
Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments to meet individual student needs
Conduct assessments, collect data, and monitor progress toward IEP goals
Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings while ensuring procedural compliance
Maintain accurate documentation and student records
Support a structured, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Qualifications
Active Colorado Special Education license (or eligibility to obtain)
Appropriate endorsement based on assignment
Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
Experience
Previous schoolbased or special education experience preferred
New graduates with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
Commitment to supporting diverse student populations
Work Hours
MondayFriday
8:00 AM 3:30 PM
Approximately 3740 hours per week
