Job Description

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement
  • Prior experience teaching students with special needs across disability categories preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of IEP processes, compliance, and data-driven instruction
  • Skill in implementing visual, sensory, and behavioral supports
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities
  • Ability to adapt lessons and interventions in real time in response to individual student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide differentiated instruction aligned to both grade-level standards and IEP goals
  • Develop, monitor, and update individualized education plans in partnership with a multidisciplinary team
  • Implement structured teaching, visual schedules, and other best-practice supports to foster independence
  • Utilize behavioral and social-emotional interventions to promote student growth
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, therapists, aides, and families
  • Maintain accurate progress records and contribute to ongoing eligibility meetings and reviews
