This opportunity centers on working with a focused K2 caseload in a high-needs classroom dedicated to students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As part of a collaborative team, youll have the chance to make a lasting difference while engaging closely with paraprofessionals and related services staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License is required
- Licensure in ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical special education highly preferred
- Proven experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Strong background in writing IEPs, tracking progress, and delivering individualized interventions
- Expertise in managing classroom structure and providing robust behavioral supports
- Excellent collaboration skills with colleagues and families
Desired Experience:
- Previous work in center-based autism or DCD classrooms
- Familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Knowledge of sensory regulation and functional skills instruction
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed instruction to a small group of K2 students
- Plan and implement academic, behavioral, and functional support strategies
- Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and regularly collect progress data
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers to create an inclusive and supportive learning space
- Build positive relationships with students and their families, ensuring clear communication and teamwork
This full-time position follows a MondayFriday schedule (8:00 AM 4:00 PM) during the school year, offering the satisfaction of seeing student growth and development first-hand.
