Job Description
A school is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join their team on a contract basis in Amherst, MA. This role focuses on providing essential educational support and individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing tailored lesson plans that accommodate students learning styles and abilities
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments
- Conducting assessments to monitor student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
- Managing classroom behavior and fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere
- Participating in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and maintaining accurate student records
Qualifications:
- Valid state Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with students who have a range of disabilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create and deliver differentiated instruction
- Commitment to student-centered education and collaboration
