Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school students with autism in a dynamic educational environment just outside Allentown, PA. This contract opportunity calls for a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to foster growth and development in a collaborative setting.

You will be guiding a small classroom of eight students, providing personalized support and implementing effective strategies to encourage academic and social success.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement for middle school grades
  • Direct experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong interpersonal skills for positive communication with students, families, and colleagues
  • Organized, reliable, and committed to creating a nurturing classroom environment

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured instruction and support to middle school students in an autistic support classroom
  • Develop, implement, and assess IEPs to ensure student goals are achieved
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and fellow teachers to maximize learning outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on student progress
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom culture

Role Details:

  • Full-time contract: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
  • Hours: 7:15am 2:45pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through June 10, 2027
  • Small caseload focused on individualized attention
