Job Description
Make a difference this fall as a Special Education Teacher in a K-2 cross-categorical classroom covering a maternity leave, supporting young learners with diverse needs. This contract position runs from the start of the new school year through Christmas break. Youll collaborate with a dedicated team, ensuring each child in your classroom receives individualized support and opportunities to thrive.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (required)
- Experience working with elementary-age students, particularly in K-2 settings
- Training or knowledge of cross-categorical special education populations
- Familiarity with AAC iPad devices, especially TD Snap, is highly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to diverse learning needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction and differentiated support to students in a K-2 cross-categorical classroom
- Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and support staff to develop and implement IEPs
- Utilize AAC devices to support communication needs (with guidance and resources provided)
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive learning environment for all students
- Communicate regularly and proactively with families regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and participate in student meetings as needed
- Uphold daily schedule, including arriving 10 minutes before and leaving 10 minutes after school bell, with a 40-minute duty-free lunch and a 50-minute prep period daily
- Participate in professional development and school events if required
