Job Description

This position focuses on educating young learners in integrated and self-contained preschool classrooms, serving children ages 3 to 5. The role supports the development and growth of students with special needs, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • Valid New York State Certification in Special Education or for Students with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2 (required)
  • Candidates currently pursuing certification in Special Education Birth to Grade 2 may be considered for Substitute Special Education Teacher roles
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in integrated or self-contained classroom settings
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement tailored instructional strategies
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with families, educators, and support staff

Primary responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of young learners with disabilities
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment promoting social and academic development
