Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting young learners with significant needs in a dedicated educational setting near Adams, MA. Full-time Special Education Teachers are needed for Substantially Separate Classrooms serving students in K-1st and 3rd-5th grades. These classrooms support children with a wide range of cognitive and physical disabilities, including some who are non-verbal and others diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Youll work alongside fellow educators and, in some cases, with the assistance of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
  • Previous experience working with students with significant disabilities (cognitive and physical)
  • Background in providing specially designed instruction
  • Applied behavior analysis (ABA) experience preferred
  • Skilled in collaborating with paraprofessionals and RBTs
  • Comfortable providing toileting and physical care support
  • Compassion, patience, and strong communication abilities

Role Responsibilities:

  • Teach and support students in substantially separate classrooms
  • Adapt the curriculum to meet individual needs, including non-verbal communication strategies
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collect relevant data
  • Work closely with related service providers and classroom staff
  • Deliver both academic and functional/life skills instruction
  • Support toileting needs and daily physical care requirements
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
