Job Description

A school-based social worker is sought to provide vital support to elementary students experiencing social and emotional challenges in a full-time capacity during the 2025-26 school year in New London, CT. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with K-12 students within a collaborative educational environment, focusing on early intervention and holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students facing social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties utilizing a problem-solving approach informed by multiple data sources and reliable assessment tools.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate school and community resources to address students academic, social, and life skill needs.
  • Recommend evidence-based interventions and instructional strategies, integrating behavioral and mental health services with academic goals.
  • Collaborate with educators, counselors, and other school personnel to establish and sustain a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for students.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and families to monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions and services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required.
  • Current Connecticut certification (071) as a School Social Worker.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational or community settings.
  • Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and data-informed decision making.
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and navigate community resources.

Location:

  • New London, Connecticut
  • Position primarily assigned to elementary schools within a full-time, contract role for the academic year.
