Job Description

Make an impact by providing essential support to students as a contracted School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time opportunity, located near Whitehall, MI, involves working 35 hours per week in an educational environment that values social-emotional growth and student wellbeing.

In this role, youll collaborate with educators, families, and staff to identify and address students needs, helping to develop a positive, inclusive school climate. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited program
  • Active or eligible State of Michigan School Social Worker license or certification
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor intervention plans and support strategies
  • Knowledge of IEP/504 processes and experience participating in student services teams a plus
  • Compassion, adaptability, and commitment to student success

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students social, emotional, and behavioral needs through observations, interviews, and evaluations
  • Provide individual and group counseling targeting academic, social, and behavioral challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote positive outcomes
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs and intervention plans
  • Serve as a resource for crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and community referrals
  • Advocate for students and support initiatives that foster a safe, nurturing school environment
