Job Description

Two contract opportunities are available for experienced School Social Workers, both beginning August 31, 2026. Located onsite in the vibrant area near Waterbury, CT, these short-term assignments offer the chance to work closely with students and staff while providing crucial evaluation and support services.

Available roles:

  • High school caseload: Serve grades 9-12 from August 31 to October 9, 2026, at a large secondary school.
  • Elementary caseload: Support K-5 students from August 31 to September 30, 2026, at a local elementary school.

Both positions are full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the potential to extend based on school needs. Your days will involve direct student contact, evaluations, and active collaboration with educational teams.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut DPH and (071) School Social Worker certification (please submit credentials at application)
  • Previous experience working as a social worker in school settings
  • Comfortable with short-term or leave coverage assignments
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with students of varying ages
  • Confident in performing onsite evaluations
  • Prepared for an in-person commitment; these roles are not eligible for virtual work
  • Ready to interview via Zoom

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely social-emotional and behavioral evaluations
  • Document findings and collaborate with educators on intervention strategies
  • Offer short-term consultative support to faculty and families
  • Participate in eligibility and team meetings as required
