Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a School Social Worker with a dedicated elementary caseload during a leave coverage this winter. This contract opportunity is based near Warwick, RI, and offers you a chance to work in a warm, supportive environment with a close-knit staff.

In this role, you will focus on providing essential social and emotional support to elementary-aged students, ensuring their academic and personal well-being is prioritized. This assignment runs from January 27th through March 28th, with a potential extension through the end of the academic year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Social Worker license required
  • Professional experience as a school social worker, especially with elementary students
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to precisely log services for Medicaid reimbursement
  • Comfort working collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
  • National BCI background check with fingerprinting required (state & federal)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and counseling to students, assisting with both emotional and behavioral challenges
  • Develop intervention plans to address social or family-related barriers to learning
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, adhering to district and Medicaid guidelines
  • Work closely with educational staff to promote a positive school culture
  • Participate in virtual panel interviews via Zoom
