Job Description
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for the 2026-2027 school year in the Bethel School District, serving middle and high school students in Spanaway, WA. This contract role involves managing a resource (co-teaching) caseload of approximately 30 students across one middle school and one high school classroom. The position requires a valid Washington State Special Education (SPED) License and ESA Certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support for students with special needs in both middle and high school settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement co-teaching strategies effectively.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to meet each students educational goals.
- Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings to support student success.
- Comply with district policies, including completion of fingerprinting prior to starting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Washington State Special Education License.
- ESA Certification.
- Experience working with middle and high school students in special education settings.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently without onsite supervision support.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with school staff and families.
- Willingness to adhere to district onboarding requirements and procedures.
Location:
- Spanaway, Washington, with opportunities available in Auburn, Tacoma, and Lakewood for applicants willing to relocate or commute.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Academic year calendar: August through June.
An interview process will be conducted via Zoom with panel participation, scheduled promptly for selected candidates. Fingerprint clearance is mandatory before the start date. Contract signing is required, and no additional training will be provided prior to the assignment.
