Job Description
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available supporting both middle and high school classrooms in the Spanaway, WA area. This contract role runs from August through June 2027 and entails working within a caseload of approximately 30 students in a resource (co-teaching) setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction and support tailored to students with diverse learning needs in middle and high school environments.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies to meet student needs.
Qualifications and experience required:
- Valid Washington State Special Education teaching license.
- ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certification.
- Proven ability to manage a caseload of diverse learners in inclusive settings.
- Comfortable working without district-provided supervision such as paraeducators or related staff.
Additional details:
- The position involves 37.5 hours per week in one middle school and one high school classroom.
- Interview process will be conducted via Zoom on a flexible timetable with decisions made promptly.
- Fingerprinting clearance is mandatory before starting.
- No training provided, so candidates should be ready to begin independently.
